A Life Like Yours"(A story inspired by 15 life lessons)

Nasir Hossain was an ordinary man.
An accounts officer at a private company.
His life ran on numbers—9 AM office, 5 PM home, salary at the end of the month, and weekly grocery lists. That was his life—measured, calculated, predictable.

But for the past six months, things had started to shift.

His wife, Moyna, had become unusually quiet.
She didn’t complain. She didn’t ask for anything.
And Nasir could feel it—something had changed. This relationship no longer felt like it used to.

One evening, Moyna said softly,
— “You’re always busy—with money, time, and responsibilities. I feel like I’m just another checkbox in your life. Is love only about duty?”

Nasir didn’t say anything.
He realized he hadn’t even made time to talk to himself.
How could he understand her?

That night, he began to reflect.

1.

He realized—choosing the wrong partner can disarrange your entire life.

2.

Standing in front of the mirror, he asked himself,
“Have I ever loved myself? Or have I just kept ticking off responsibilities?”

3.

He used to get angry—over work, over life.
Now, he tried to stay quiet. To listen more.
To calm his storms.

4.

Moyna wasn’t perfect.
Neither was he.
People must be accepted as they are.

5.

And Rafique bhai at work?
He once seemed like a great guy.
But time always reveals what the face hides.

6.

Nasir stopped worrying about others’ lives.
His own was complicated enough.

7.

The doctor had advised him to walk.
He never had the time.
Now, he walked every morning.

Moyna, surprised, asked,
— “After all these years, you finally found time to walk?”

8.

He gave up excuses.
“No time,” “Not now”—they were just lies he told himself.

9.

As a child, he wanted to write stories.
Last month, one quiet night, he began writing again.
Dreams shouldn’t be left to die.

10.

His younger brother laughed,
— “At this age, you’re writing stories? People will mock you.”

Nasir smiled,
— “People will always say something.”

11.

He stopped waiting for the “right time.”
He wrote in the morning. Walked in the evening.
Life is now.

12.

There was an old gatekeeper at the office—Abdul Kaku.
He had lost a lot in life.
But his smile was constant.
Nasir began listening to his stories.

13.

He no longer posted everything on Facebook.
Silence, he learned, protects happiness.

14.

News used to weigh heavy on his mind.
Now, he read less.
His heart felt lighter.

15.

His short stories got published in an online magazine.
No one gave him a chance—he created one himself.

One night, Moyna whispered,
— “You’ve changed.
Before, even when you were beside me, I felt alone.
Now… even when you’re far, I feel close to you.”

Nasir smiled gently.
— “Maybe, this time… I’ve learned to love myself too.”

It wasn’t the end.
Like life—it simply kept going.
